Hoping to make some pretty awesome costumes over the next year, but first thing is first: finish Evie Frye and then take a break. There have been so many hiccups trying to get Evie Frye done for multiple "due dates" now, that it's definitely time to wrap it up and take a mental break from costumes for a bit. Once that's over the first costume up will be Princess Zelda from Breath of the Wild 2, designed by the talented Hannah Alexander. When I saw the art nouveau drawing she had done I was absolutely hooked. I knew I had to do this regal version of a short haired Zelda. So I have already bought all of my fabric, and now I am slowly picking up the notions to go along with it. This one will be a bit challenging for me as I have to dye the fabric myself, but I'm glad I have a good teacher for this one! Next will be my original character and group cosplay of Winter. My friend and I have designed the different seasons and have been recruiting others to complete the set. The challenge with this one will be the sequins that I will be sewing on in specific designs, but it's going to be lots of fun! Finally I plan to create Lilith from Diablo 4. Lilith may or may not become a 2021 project, but we will see. On top of all this, I also plan to squeeze in a halloween costume that I've always wanted to make. Over the past few years I have felt a little lost at halloween because I don't have a costume! I know this sounds silly coming from a cosplayer, because well...I have lots of costumes! BUT I haven't had a costume specifically for Halloween in a few years, and it's starting to bum me out. So I have one planned, but it's going to stay a secret for a while :) I wish all of you the best of luck and a very creative start to the new year!

Hi all!
This is just to let you all know that the blog will be on a 2 week hiatus for the holidays! I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year! See you in January! Halloween is my absolute favourite holiday!
As a kid I would start prepping months in advance, what I wanted to wear, how I would decorate, how many pumpkins I could carve (which was never many with my tiny arms and hands). And after Halloween had passed, I would put my costume back on and pretend trick or treat to all the rooms in my house. I wished Halloween could be every day of the year, this is why I got into Cosplay! Now I could dress up as my favourite characters all year round! But it just doesn't feel the same. For the past few years I have found myself missing making a costume for the purpose of wearing it just for Halloween so I have promised myself that next year, I am going to take the time and make a costume just for that! What do you enjoy about Halloween! I've mentioned before in previous blogs that Sewingpatterns.com and Printsew.com are a great resource for getting digital patterns. Well I'm here to tell you to STAY AWAY.
Printsew.com has had multiple server issues over the past few months, and just the other day the whole website seems to have been taken down. There is no "under construction page", there is no way to contact support, and if you had purchases through them, like I did...there is no way to access your account OR use the patterns you have downloaded previously because they are all locked to the printsew.com server. DO NOT BUY DIGITAL PATTERNS FROM SEWINGPATTERNS.COM Hey everyone,
Sorry for the lack of content lately. Things have been super busy and I've also been pretty sick. Things should be back up and running next week! Thanks for understanding! It's April 24th and we are on our way to Calgary! Expo starts tomorrow and I'm so beyond excited! Looking forward to sharing the experience with all of you!
I'm very excited to share with everyone that my Skull Kid was featured on Fan Expo Vancouver's Official Twitter and Instagram this morning!! So very cool!
I thought it best to share this post with you since Fan Expo Vancouver is right around the corner. This has always been an issue in the cosplay community, and there is more and more awareness being brought to it each and every year. As the title says: COSPLAY IS NOT CONSENT So what does that mean? It means, just because someone is scantily clad dressed as their favourite character, or wearing sexy clothes doesn't give other people permission or the right to go and oogle them, harass them, touch, contact or haggle them in any way. They are showing their respect to a character they admire, and are dressing up in a style that is comfortable to them, but it doesn't mean it is an open invitation to other people to be rude or inappropriate towards them in anyway. It means, If someone is dressed up in a costume that may not look as polished or finessed as someone else's that you can go harass them, or bully them It means, If someone is dressed up in ANY form of costume, YOU HAVE TO ASK FOR PERMISSION! Permission for photos, permission to touch their costume, permission to stop them and have a conversation. Cosplayers don't bite, we want to have our hard work admired, we want to share the excitement of fandom with you, we don't want to have people harassing us and following us around and being inappropriate. So please remember, when you are headed to the Con this weekend, or any other Con, Please be respectful of Cosplayer's. They are fan's too, and are there to enjoy the con. If you are a Cosplayer, go with a buddy or a Cosplay tender, someone who is willing to be a buffer for you and help you out. Original art by Amy Reeder. Photo from cosplayisnotconsent.org
Well it's official! I'm live on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. You can find links to all of my social media on the Follow Me page! Keep a look out for new posts and announcements about all my cosplay adventures!
Alright folks! Welcome to 2019!!
The move is officially over and was definitely successful. Still have a few boxes left to sort through, but most everything else is done! That means it's time to get back into the cosplay world! Social media updates will start up again, blog topics, and of course a new costume!! I'll try to continue updating weekly for now, and once that gets going, we will try to update even more frequently! Stay tuned for exciting things to come! |
