Link - Legend of Zelda
Why I chose to make this costume:
For anyone who knows me, they know that I live and breath Zelda. There are very few fans as die hard as I am. So naturally my first real attempt at cosplay was Link.
How I made this costume:
I made this costume through many non-conventional methods. As this was my very first cosplay, I had almost no sewing skills. My experience was making boxer shorts in home ec class. End of Story. I bought fabric from Fabricana for the hat and tunic. The leggings and undershirt were purchased from Walmart. The "chainmail" was a mesh shirt bought from Value Village that was altered. The wig and ears were purchased from a local costume shop, and the boots were bought at Payless. The sword I made at home for a highschool wood working project. For the tunic, I literally folded the fabric over my head and had my mom help me pin it and mark it where my head should go and where my arms needed to be. I cut out small pieces of fabric and hand stitched them on for the detailing. For the hat, I rolled up a piece of fabric around my head to make sure it would fit and stitched it up, again, hand sewing on the detail.
Thoughts on this costume:
For my first real costume, I was super happy how it came out. BUT this will only be the first iteration. I definitely plan to make a new Link costume in the future now that I have more skills under my belt.
